Showcase 2013

On Thursday July 25 Sandra and Margaret attended the awards presentation for this year's Vic Quilters exhibition at Jeff's shed. As you know, MPPI sponsored an award and this time our prize went to the Traditional Two Person Professional category. The winner was Linda Collins from Wonga Park who created a superb red and white quilt based on an antique design she saw in New York City. The machine quilting was done by Karen Terrens. Below is Sandra Fisher presenting Linda with her award.

There was an abundance of truly beautiful quilts that were inspirational and just a bit intimidating at the same time. How do these talented people do it? The Best In Show award was the ultimate prize of five presented to Pamela Brockwell for her amazing creation (detail shown on the right). She hand dyed the fabric, hand appliquéd the pieces and finished the edges with 60 metres of very thin loops of rouleaux (not shown in this picture).

Another special award winning quilt was Linda Steele's 'Christmas Crazy' wall hanging with beautiful hand embroidery.
Here is just a small glimpse of Linda's wonderful skills.

A particular favourite of mine was this stunning red quilt covered with appliquéd white flowers - details unknown.

It was lovely to see several MPPI ladies on the day and I'm sure many others attended the show on the other days.
