NORIKO ENDO CONFETTI NATURESCAPES

NORIKO ENDO’S CONFETTI NATURESCAPES CONTINUES ITS POPULARITY

I’ve just got to do a post on my blog regarding the excitement Margaret Roberts and I have had conducting the Noriko Endo Confetti Naturescapes workshop for a group of the Patchwork Ladies at the University of the 3rd Age in Mornington.

The whole initial aim of this programme was to expand it as much as possible into our community, and it is our pleasure to announce that we conducted two days of tutoring and fun at the U3A and the ladies there have made us feel very welcome. Thank you Jeannie Bridger and Margaret Thompson for organizing us all.

Our first class was held on 18 July 2014 and the ladies taking part were so enthusiastic that, following an introduction of the workshop the week before, they had already prepared their landscape picture and confetti.  The  day went very well and we continued a week later whilst celebrating Christmas in July with a delicious High Tea.

Here are some photos of Week 1, the beginning of the workshop with obvious enthusiasm and confetti by the ladies taking part.

WOW what an amazing result after only 3 hours - well done ladies! Looking forward to next week!

This is now week 2 of our workshop and we start off with a "High Tea" to celebrate Christmas in July.  Unfortunately there is no snow outside but the atmosphere is here and the hospitality is superb.

It's the end of Week 2 and the ladies have made huge progress with their confetti naturescapes.  Margaret and I are very proud of them but as we have not finished the quilts we invited the group to my home in Mount Eliza to complete the workshop.

Welcome to our final gathering.  Most of the quilts are almost complete with only finishing touches and the binding to do.  So we are gathered here all working together in between morning tea and lunch breaks. Helen Sidick even managed to prepare a second little quilt which is very cute. Below are the final photos.

Noriko Endo we would all like to thank you for the inspiration and excitement you have brought to us with your confetti Naturescapes and shall look forward to more involvement with your work.

I hope you are all as impressed as Margaret and I are.  We'd like to advise that U3A will be holding an Expo at the Wilsons Road, Mornington Hall on November 9, 2014 and all these beautiful confetti Naturescape quilts will be exhibited together with lots of other art. We are sure the ladies will make everyone welcome.

Thank you ladies for the opportunity to extend this workshop to you all and also for the friendship and fun we have had together.

Sincerely,
Kathie Page-Robertson and Margaret Roberts

Grand Finale

MPPI QUILTING ADVENTURES BLOG – MY GRAND FINALE

I know it’s been a while since the last blog – November 2013.  However, as promised, here I am with a report on the MPPI Christmas break up lunch, held at the Dava Hotel in Mount Martha.  Once again the event was very well attended.
We all put on our best voices to sing some Christmas Carols, and enjoyed a very tasty traditional Christmas Lunch.  The staff at the Dava were very friendly and provided very good service.  Sarah Simcock, the Coordinator of our Quilt Exhibition held at Toorak College in November  2013 presented Beverly Young with the Viewer’s Choice for Best Quilt Award for her “Tumbling Blocks” quilt.  Congratulations Bev.  We also had several raffle prizes and a good time was had by all.

Christmas came and went very quickly and our first meeting for the year was on 13 January 2014, with the new Committee taking over.  This means that I am writing my last Blog as ex President of MPPI.

One last duty for me to perform was the Exhibition of the quilts made at the Noriko Endo Workshop “Confetti Naturescapes” held in April, 2013.  These quilts are currently displayed in the Foyer of the Mornington Library, thanks to Andrea Ebsworth, Cultural Planner of Libraries, arts and Culture, Mornington Peninsula Shire. They will be there until 28 March 2014 for the general public to enjoy.

I would now like to thank everyone at MPPI for their support over the last 4 years during my Vice and Presidency, and wish the new President, Sandra Fisher and her team all the very best success in their positions.

Au Revoir!
