A SUCCESSFUL RESCUE!

It's  the 4th Thursday of the month which means it's our monthly workshop at Baxter Hall. Today was to be the "Stitch & Rip" workshop tutored by Margaret Stead of Point Nepean Patchwork & Quilters Inc. Yesterday, one day prior, by accident we found a Notice shoved under the side door of Baxter Hall from the Electricity supplier stating that the power would be cut off for the whole day on Thursday!

Our trusted Workshop Coordinator Christine Stevens took action immediately by contacting all the participants and inviting them to come to her home where the workshop would now take place instead of Baxter Hall.  The following photos are the result of  a very successful day.  Well done ladies and congratulations for your quick thinking and generosity Christine!

AFRICAN SAFARI IN JUNE 2013

Despite it being a public holiday, we had a pleasing turn out of 92 members for our June meeting.  We welcomed Leslie Edwards of Quilting Fabrications fame and her sister in law Trish, who displayed many of Leslie's beautifully designed quilts some using vibrant African fabrics. It's amazing how quilts of the same pattern can look so different by using a variety of colour ways.

An African theme was created with a beautiful display of quilts made by many of our talented members.

Thank you to Leslie and Trish for an inspiring presentation.

We can now look forward to our next meeting and our annual "Mini Market" with 5 (perhaps 6) traders coming to sell their wares. We'll celebrate Christmas in July with our sausage sizzle provided by and as a fundraiser for Mornington Peninsula Youth Enterprises.  Mr. Bob Couchman from MPYE will also be there to talk to us about this organisation which we support.

Christmas fare will be provided for Morning Tea and you can join into the spirit of Christmas by bringing decorations for your tables and the hall.  Visitors are welcome.

As you know I shall be overseas for a few weeks and Margaret Roberts will be in charge of this blog in my absence in her efficient manner. Expect to receive some travel updates from me as well.  Thank you Margaret!

By now you will all be preparing your quilts for our Exhibition in November.  Happy stitching and so long!

Kathie and Margaret

P.s. Thank you Georgia for your guidance in putting all this together xx
